Fundraising Update as of January 25th, 2008
We are happy to announce the finalization of our school’s tax-exempt bond refinance package. This financial arrangement offers many benefits to Trillium: a much lower mortgage interest rate, retirement of the high interest bridge loan financing, no balloon payments, elimination of the six personal guarantors and extra cash to fund our required elevator and our necessary roof replacement.
Up until last year, we were not eligible for this type of financing. Our original building acquisition and renovation financing were less than ideal, and we relied on generous contributions to our capital campaign to help offset our costs. With the recent refinancing, we have retired the original capital campaign because our urgent need for funds to pay off the bridge loan has been eliminated.
Trillium still needs your financial support. There are many opportunities for you to help through one-time contributions or on-going pledges to the following Trillium funds:
-
The Trillium Sustaining Fund: The Trillium Sustaining Fund was established this year with two significant parent/grandparent donations. The establishment of our sustaining fund has been a board goal since the inception of Trillium. The fund serves to address significant capital purchases (e.g., a building improvement) or other extraordinary expenses.
- General Operating Funds: Undesignated donations and pledges are always useful as it allows us to use administrative discretion to fund our most urgent needs.
- Specific Program Funds: Contributions to specific programs such as the music, garden, service learning, student travel, kitchen/food, and edible rooftop garden programs enable the programs to begin, grow and improve.
- Together For Trillium Funds: Contributions to the TFT Funds enable further grants through TFT’s established grant process (http://www.trilliumcharterschool.org/tft_grants.html).
You can be assured that any financial contribution will be used wisely to support Trillium Charter School’s longevity and enhance each student’s educational experience. If you have any questions or would like to know how you can support Trillium today, please contact Arianne Newton, Community Development Coordinator: arianne@e-z.net or 503-285-3833.
Other donations
If you have physical items you wish to donate to Trillium that are NOT for individual classroom or advisor use please contact Rob van Nood before you bring them to the school. These items would include any kind of furniture, rugs, building materials, sports equipment, library books, etc. We have limited space for storage and we need to make an assessment of needs before we can accept new donations of supplies. You can contact Rob at rob@trilliumcharterschool.org or by coming to his advising class before or after school. Thank you so much.
